FOUNDER + PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

Welcome to my world, where each day is a little different than the last, and I wouldn't have it any other way. By trade, I'm a designer and set decorator who is occasionally seen on TV.  I'm a wife, mother, and lifelong learner who grew up in a small town in rural Alabama. With almost two decades of design and home renovation experience, I can confidently walk into any space and instantly envision its potential.

 

Over the years, I've been fortunate enough to work on a wide range of projects with some incredibly talented people, learning invaluable skills that only hands-on experience can provide. I was eventually tapped to host Fyi Networks, internationally broadcast series, Unlivable. Alongside Gary Stain, we help homeowners search for the perfect rundown fixer-upper in Los Angeles and transformed those unlivable houses into the most enviable homes on the block.

 

Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work with Genevieve Gorder as her Set Decorator on Town Hall and as a Design Producer for Extreme Makeover Home Edition. I also served as a Board Member and eventually as President of The Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA), whose mission is to inspire and educate future generations in the art of Set Decoration. Currently, I am a proud member of IATSE Local 44. Along the way, forming lifelong friendships that I cherish.

 

In 2017, I launched Folk + Lore, a home décor and lifestyle brand, which eventually led to the full rebrand of my design studio, Designs by Bama, to Folk + Lore Living. Folk + Lore Living was born from my love affair with all things vintage, old homes, and storytelling. I believe that your lifestyle is a reflection of carefully curated moments and beloved treasures. Such as a comfy chair where you enjoy a cup of coffee while reading each morning, a collection of heirloom pieces that hold special significance or bespoke pieces fashioned just for you.

I'm passionate about the re-fitting of old houses to accommodate our modern life styles while restoring and preserving the homes original character. By using beautiful and unexpected sources of inspiration, my team and I work collaboratively with our clients to create spaces that thoughtfully honor their stories and traditions. After all there is no place like your home!
